Lifetime and its viewers are going to get even more Devious next year. The network has renewed for a second season its hit drama Devious Maids (#DeviousMaids), starring Ana Ortiz, Dania Ramírez, Roselyn Sánchez, Edy Ganem and Judy Reyes, with a 13 episode order, it was announced today by Rob Sharenow, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Lifetime. Devious Maids is produced by ABC Studios.Since its premiere on June 23, nearly 23 million viewers have watched Devious Maids on Lifetime. It is the network’s fastest-growing drama ever, and has catapulted Lifetime to cable’s number one network in the Sunday 10:00pm ET/PT time slot among Women. It’s 18% Hispanic composition nearly doubles Lifetime’s primetime average. Devious Maids centers on a close-knit group of maids (Ortiz, Ramírez, Sánchez, Ganem and Reyes), bonded together by their jobs, life struggles and boss’ melodramatic “upstairs-downstairs” universe, that turns to one another for support after a fellow maid Flora (Paula Garcés) is brutally murdered at the home of her employers. Devious Maids also stars Susan Lucci, Rebecca Wisocky, Tom Irwin, Mariana Klaveno, Grant Show, Matt Cedeño, Melinda Page Hamilton, Drew Van Acker, Brianna Brown and Brett Cullen. The series was created by Marc Cherry and is executive produced by Cherry, Sabrina Wind, Eva Longoria, Paul McGuigan, Larry Shuman, David Lonner, John Mass and Televisa USA’s Paul Presburger and Michael Garcia.
Last weeks episode had Rosie (Dania Ramirez) infiltrating the Powell household to find the DVD of Flora that Marisol needs as evidence, Evelyn becomes fixated on Peri’s son after Rosie brings him over. After getting carried away with him to make up for the loss of her son Barrett, Evelyn apologizes to Rosie for keeping the child away for too long and when she offers her a job, Rosie (after she sees the evidence located in the Powell’s safe, and whose combination password is that of her late son’s first name), accepts. At the same time Marisol helps Taylor with trying to have a child at a fertility clinic, unaware that word does travels fast when a so-called former friend of Olivia’s tips Olivia off. Meanwhile, when Carmen (Roselyn Sanchez) learns that Odessa is trying place the blame for her chores on her in front of Alejandro (Matt Cedeño), Carmen discovers that Odessa is using that reason to hide her battle with cancer that resulted in her loss of her leg that ended her career as a ballerina in Russia, and Zoila and Valentina intervene in Genevieve’s attempt to marry a 76-year-old blind man who believes Genevieve is 39 and hopes that she will give him a family. He makes a deal to marry Genevieve if Valentina becomes the egg donor!
One of “Devious Maids” executive producers, the always beautiful, Eva Longoria (below) was photograped attending the Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s 2013 Installation Luncheon at The Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills on Tuesday (Aug. 13). Eva is wearing a Gucci white dress, paired with Jimmy Choo strapped heels, and a matching Saint Laurent clutch.
OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network announced today that it has ordered an additional 16 episodes of the network’s popular drama series from Tyler Perry “The Haves and the Have Nots” (Tuesdays at 9 p.m.). The show’s current cycle will air through September 3 with the new episodes premiering in early 2014.
Last nights episode showed Candace (Tika Sumpter) reading Jeffery about his closeted homosexuality, Jeffery’s clear jealousy over Wyatt loving Laura and not him, Kathyn battling her cancer post surgery, unbeknownst she is in the same hospital as her daughter Amanda is for prescription drug overdose. And Veronica gets closer to the mystery surrounding Hanna’s son Benny drug traffic case.
And the star actress from “The Have And The Have Nots” Tika Sumpter recently attended the premiere of “The Butler” in New York City on Tues (Aug. 6) wearing a red Alberta Ferretti dress paired with white Christian Louboutin pumps.
