Fans of the “Fifty Shades of Grey” can breathe a sigh of relief. It has just been announced that Charlie Hunnam has dropped out of the coveted role of Christian Grey, for the much anticipated movie “Fifty Shades of Grey. Deadline reports:
Well, here’s a surprise. Universal is going to have to look harder to find its S&M minded zillionaire Christian Grey because Sons Of Anarchy star Charlie Hunnam has exited the role he only just got. He was set early last month to star in what is expected to be at least three movies based on the EL James novel trilogy Fifty Shades Of Grey. The studio issued this statement:
“The filmmakers of Fifty Shades Of Grey and Charlie Hunnam have agreed to find another male lead given Hunnam’s immersive TV schedule which is not allowing him time to adequately prepare for the role of Christian Grey.” Universal, Focus Features, James and director Sam Taylor-Johnson will have to pick up the search. I’m sure there are a lot of names that came below Hunnam so it should not take long. The film is scheduled to begin shooting early next month and it will be released August 1, 2014.

We agree, and don’t the schedule conflict story, we believe Charlie and his PR team actually sat down and READ the book “Fifty Shades of Grey” and opted out of it last minute, we’re almost certain he won’t be missed by “Fifty Shades of Grey” fans.
Which brings into our million dollar question, who should play Christian Grey in “Fifty Shades of Grey” now that Charlie Hunnam has exited to the left? Henry Cavill? Matt Bomer? David Gandy? or Ian Somerhalder?

Director Lee Daniels (“The Butler”, “Precious”) sat down with Out magazine and exclusively revealed his plans to make a “gay interracial action hero” movie starring Alex Pettyfer (“Magic Mike”), According to Out magazine:

Lee Daniels has revealed in an exclusive interview with Out magazine, that he’s developing an “interracial love affair action movie” with an interracial gay couple. According to Daniels, think of it as a gay “Mr. and Mrs. Smith, but the two good-looking guys as the action heroes.” The twist? “We don’t find out they’re gay until the end of the movie,” he explains.
He went on to reveal that, “Alex Pettyfer is in it, [but] I have to find the right black guy opposite him. He’s so hot, isn’t he? So hot. And so aware of his hotness in a way that’s so…I love him to death.”

Hmmm… there are several actors that come to mine for this role, and could possible get recognition and win awards if selected for this, look what “Brokeback Mountain” did for Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal’s careers. A few good black actors that could possible pull this role off alongside Alex Pettyfer are, Michael Charles Davis (“The Originals”, “Grey’s Anatomy”), Jesse Williams (“Grey’s Anatomy”, “The Butler”), Jarod Joseph (“Arrow”, “Rogue”, “The L.A. Complex”), or Nathan Owens (“Days Of Our Lives”). Just some suggestions, who do you all think would be good for this role? Or will this be career suicide for a Black actor to play a gay action hero role?

  • I’mma need the casting people to read the 50 Shades of Grey book? Charlie Hunnam is nothing like the book describes Christian Grey as. As this point they might as well make this a Lifetime or Hallmark movie. Everything now seems rushed.

  • Daivd Gandy or Matt Bomer would be great for this role, Henry Cavill is too big for this, and Ian Somerhalder is too WB/CW acting for this.

  • Thanks for your post on the vacation industry. We would also like to add that if you are a senior taking into account traveling, it truly is absolutely important to buy travel insurance for seniors. When traveling, retirees are at high risk of experiencing a healthcare emergency.
